I am new to the group and LJ. My wife and I just bought our first house mid February. It was not your typical purchase because I am a Realtor so I represented myself. Also, my grandmother worked with the Seller. We hadn't even thought of buying a house, but I went to preview the home as part of my business and my wife just so happened to be with me. We went in, loved it and put the contract together the next day.
As a first time home buyer, I know how stressful and exciting it can be. As a Realtor, I also know that sometimes challenges arise that can blow a sale. My advice for everyone who wants to buy a house is to use a Realtor that is qualified and has experience working with first time home buyers.
It's a great time to buy, especially with the $8,000 tax credit for first time buyers. Just FYI...If you are taking an FHA loan, you may be able to use the $8,000 tax credit as part of your down payment. Talk to your lender about this.
Anyway, I am not here to preach about home buying, but since I just went through it myself and also have the expertise as a Realtor, I'd be happy to answer any questions you all might have.
